"On a recent thursday afternoon, I descended a flight of narrow steps to the basement of a building , just behind Vogues' offices in central London. Here I watched as smart, poised woman in track pants made themselves faintly ridiculous by engaging in a new technologically arvance workout called "vibrating plate".
This involves standing or sitting on a vibrating plate and performing traditionnal exercises, which are apparently intensified by the jiggling motion.
Amazingly, I have met more than one otherwise sensible woman who has credulously extrolled the benefits of this strange lunchtime ritual to me.And I don't doubt that it has its benefits. It is surely better than sitting at home eating take-away pizza and ice cream while watching tv.
It is just that You don't have to be a nutritionist or a personal trainer to know there is no miracle cure for weight gain.
